Facebook Used By Date?
With Facebook’s Privacy Policies degrading over time it seems that a lot of people like myself are reconsidering whether it is worth being on facebook.
But it isn’t just people like ,me that are starting to question the worth of being on FB anymore, well read blogs and newspapers are starting to cover it too.
I think that Facebook has done a great job of leveraging their database, but i think that it is overstepping their mark with crapolla like Zynga (who make Farmville) and much like Apple with their proprietry Walled Garden around their iTunes/iPhone/iPad I think that it will create awesome profits shorty term but leaves them open to competition from open alternatives such as Android, Google Docs and the natural evolution on the internet for everything to eventually cost zero?
Considering this is just the start of Social Networking, then what is next?
What implications does this have for us?
We build highly tailored communities around venues including hotels and nightclubs. We differentiate ourselves from our competitors by having highly trained staff and fostering communities and Social Networks inside of our business and our venues. We use services such as Facebook as a parallel to do so (lots of our competitors use Facebook for 100% of their marketing tools) but what will happen to their clients when Facebook users start to fragment? We were one of the innovators with Facebook 3 years ago, watch this space…
